From the 1998 Volvo China Masters to the 2007 HSBC Junior Golf Championship to the 2011 Shanghai Golf Association Amateur Open, the Sun Island series of golf courses have hosted more than a thousand golfing events. Famous players who have graced the Sun Island course in Shanghai include Jim Furyk, winner of the 1998 Volvo China Masters and Liang Wenchong, China's current No. 1 professional.

- All perfect in qingpu Sunisland golf club.Very good driver-on time.Smooth.T-off went well.After 9 holes we went to clun house for a noodle soup.Then the course master came and said-we better continue...seems there was a group lined up to start,but we insisted...Later our caddy got a cart and drove us,so finally we were lucky and played all 18 holes.Very good individual service and attention.Weather was excellent,not as hot as 10 days ago at Silport,even a bit of breeze. by Manuel Staerkle
